Message de Geoff Norman
I was engaged by the comments of Marc-Andre.It seems to me that his observations coincide almost exactly with thefindings of Groves, O'Rourke and Alexander (Med Teacher 2003; 25:621-625, attached), about errors in hypothesis generation and weightingof features.
His second point, about the importance of multiple cases and varying presentations is really central to my research. It also dovetails with some of the work ontransfer by Holyoak and by Gentner about the importance of compare andcontrast to facilitate transfer.
